Terms of Service

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Averr is in beta. Features, scoring rules, and access policies may change. We will update this page when material changes are made.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of Averr, including our website at averr.app, mobile applications, and related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Averr ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

3. Access and accounts

Access to the app may be limited during beta. We may require waitlist approval, an invite code, or other criteria before granting full access.

We may refuse, suspend, or revoke access at any time if we believe it is necessary for safety, legal compliance, or the integrity of the Service.

4. What Averr is

Averr is a social accountability platform. Users create public or limited-visibility commitments ("pacts"), may submit proof of completion, and may receive engagement from other users (such as believe or doubt votes). The Service may display reputation, trust, and related scores derived from platform activity.

Scores and community outcomes reflect how the Service works internally. They are not legal findings, credit reports, employment references, or guarantees of a person's character or future behavior.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit, including pact text, proof files, profile information, and comments ("User Content").

To operate the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content only as needed to run, improve, and secure the Service, enforce these Terms, and comply with law. This license ends when your User Content is deleted from our systems, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate safety and abuse-prevention purposes.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your User Content and that doing so does not violate anyone else's rights or applicable law.

6. Visibility and proof

Pacts may be visible to the public, to members of a circle, or under other visibility settings you choose where the product supports them. Proof media and pact details are shown only to users permitted by those settings and our access rules.

You should not submit proof you do not have permission to share. Do not include sensitive personal information about others without their consent.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or manipulated proof
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse others
  • Post content that is illegal, hateful, or sexually exploitative, including any content involving minors
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service's operation or security
  • Use the Service for spam, fraud, or unauthorized commercial solicitation
  • Circumvent access controls, rate limits, or moderation decisions

You are expected to participate in good faith. Making pacts you do not intend to keep, or coordinating to manipulate scores, may result in enforcement action.

8. Moderation and enforcement

We may review User Content using automated tools, community review, and human moderation. We may remove content, adjust scores, restrict features, disable accounts, or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for others.

If you disagree with a moderation outcome, the app may provide an appeal path where available. We are not obligated to restore content or reverse every decision.

We may preserve and report content to authorities when required by law or when we believe it is necessary to address serious harm, including illegal content.

9. Third-party services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, sign-in providers or proof sources such as GitHub). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

10. Beta disclaimer

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis during beta. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that any particular feature will remain available.

We may change scoring formulas, product features, or access policies with or without notice, subject to applicable law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Averr and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100), if you have not paid us for the Service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. Where the app supports it, you may delete your account in Settings. Account deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
