1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Averr ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website at averr.app, mobile applications, and related services (together, the "Service").
It applies to waitlist sign-ups, account registration, and use of the app. It does not cover third-party websites or services that we link to or that you connect through the app (such as sign-in or proof providers). Those services have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect

- Name, username, avatar, and profile fields you choose to provide
- Account status, access status, and settings (including notification preferences)

- Email address, optional name, and optional message when you join the waitlist on our website
- Basic technical data needed to prevent abuse (such as approximate request metadata)
Content you create
- Pact titles, descriptions, deadlines, categories, and visibility settings
- Proof submissions, including photos, links, text, and files you upload
- Engagements such as believe or doubt votes, comments, and appeals where supported
- Circle membership and invite-related data where you use those features
Scores and activity
- Reputation, trust, offence, and related scores calculated by the Service
- Records of completed, missed, or moderated pacts
Device and technical data
- Push notification tokens if you enable notifications
- Device type, app version, and general log data used for debugging, security, and reliability
- IP address and request metadata processed by our servers and infrastructure providers
Connected services
- If you connect external accounts (for example, GitHub for proof), we receive information needed to verify or display that proof, as permitted by your connection
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Authenticate you and manage access, including waitlist and invite flows
- Display pacts, proof, profiles, and scores according to visibility rules
- Send notifications you have opted into (such as pact reminders or activity updates)
- Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
- Review content for policy violations using automated and human moderation
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
- Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the product
We do not use your information to sell personal data to third parties.
4. How we share information
We share information only in these situations:
With other users (by your choice)
Pact content, proof, profile information, and scores may be visible to other users depending on product settings (for example, public profile, open pacts, or circle-only visibility).
With service providers
We use third-party providers to run the Service. They process data on our behalf under contractual obligations. Categories of providers include:
- Authentication and database hosting (Supabase)
- Cloud storage and content delivery (Cloudflare)
- Push notification delivery (Expo)
- Sign-in providers you choose (such as Google)
- Automated content review tools where enabled
We share only what is needed for them to perform their function.
For legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect the safety of users or the public, or enforce our Terms.
Business changes
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you if ownership or use of your information changes materially.
5. Automated review
Some content may be processed by automated systems to detect policy violations, spam, or unsafe material. Automated results may lead to flags, restrictions, or human review. Automated systems can make mistakes; appeal options may be available in the app where we offer them.
6. Retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
If you delete your account (where supported in Settings), we delete or anonymize your profile and associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain data for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or serious safety and abuse-prevention purposes.
Backups and logs may persist for a limited time before they are overwritten according to our infrastructure providers' schedules.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit for data sent between your device and our servers, access controls, and monitoring for abuse.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices
- Profile: You can update profile fields in the app where supported.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications in Settings or your device OS.
- Visibility: You can choose pact visibility where the product supports sealed or limited sharing.
- Account deletion: You can request deletion through in-app Settings where available.
- Access and correction: You may contact us to request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable law.
9. Regional rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@averr.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
We process information based on contractual necessity (to provide the Service), legitimate interests (such as security and product improvement), and consent where required (such as optional notifications).
10. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data protection laws than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact privacy@averr.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by email where appropriate.
